The 50th Meeting of the GST Council was held on July 11, 2023 in New Delhi, under the chairpersonship of the Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman.
The Council also deliberated on the Group of Ministers (GoM) 2nd interim report regarding IT System Reforms. The GoM put forward a series of suggestions aimed at combating GST fraud. These suggestions include implementing system-based measures to enhance the registration process in GST, utilizing third-party data more extensively for risk management, and controlling the circulation of counterfeit Input Tax Credit throughout the supply chain.
