Tata Power has received a penalty of Rs 2,40,000 from Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Commissioner of State Tax. The penalty comes regarding a matter of transportation of goods by the company, with some discrepancies in the accompanying documents.
Tata Power said that it received the penalty notice from the State Tax Deputy Commissioner’s office on July 9. In an exchange filing, the company said, “Notice has been issued under section 129(3) of IGST Act in relation to detention of goods for payment of penalty amounting to ₹ 2.40 lakh”
Tata Power said that the penalty order will not have a material impact on the company’s financials and its operations, and other activities. The company did not specify in the exchange filing whether it would pay the penalty or contest it.
