GST rate on Diethylcarbamazine (DEC) tablets reduced to 5% from 12%

Background:

The Ministry of Finance issued Press Release dated May 28, 2021 pertaining to decisions taken in 43rd GST Council meeting wherein following recommendations were made to support the Lympahtic Filarisis (an endemic) elimination programme being conducted in collaboration with WHO, the GST rate on Diethylcarbamazine (DEC) tablets has been recommended for reduction to 5% (from 12%). Following notification has been issued in this regard:

Notification:

The CBIC vide Notification No. 01/2021- Central Tax (Rate) dated June 02, 2021 amended Notification No. 01/2017- Central Tax (Rate) dated June 28, 2017 (“Goods Rate Notification”) as under:

  • Substituted “4016 or 9503” with “9503” against serial number 259A of Schedule I of Goods Rate Notification:
