Flood cess attached to sales tax in the aftermath of devastating floods will cease from July 31, 2021.
Formulated to rebuild Kerala post-historic flooding, the Flood Cess came into being on August 01, 2019 when Flood Cess of 1 percent became applicable to goods with more than 5 percent in sales tax and a 0.25 percent on gold.
There will be no Flood Cess levy from July 31, 2021 and businesses are advised to make appropriate changes in their billing software, said Sales Tax Commissioner on Friday.
