CBIC issued Instructions on requirement of Health Certificate accompanied with import of food consignments

The CBIC vide Instruction No. 18/2022-Customs dated August 12, 2022 regarding the requirement of a Health Certificate accompanied with the import of food consignments.

Reference is invited to F.No. 1829/Health Certificate/FSSAI/Imports/2021 dated August 03, 2022 issued by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, New Delhi on the above mentioned subject (copy enclosed).

Vide above communication, FSSAI stated that with effect from November 01, 2022, imported food consignments of following food category as specified in FSS (Food Product Standards & Food Additives) shall be accompanied by a Health Certificate issued by Competent Authority of the exporting country in the prescribed format as attached as Annexure-I with the said Order. The food category are as under:

i. Milk and Milk Products

ii. Pork and Pork Products

iii. Fish and Fish products

It is requested that necessary action may be taken to sensitize officers under your jurisdiction. The difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this Instruction may be brought to the notice of the Board.
