The CBIC has issued Instruction No. 04/2024-Customs dated March 07, 2024 for commercial import of premium frozen duck meat into India, referencing Customs and DGFT notifications from March 2024. It designates certain Regional Officers to certify the imports, based on standards outlined in a February 2024 OM from the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying.
Reference is invited to Customs Notification No 13/2024-Customs dt. March 06, 2024 relating to Import of Frozen Duck Meat read with DGFT Notification No 66/2023 dt. March 06, 2024. (Copies enclosed)
In this regard, reference is also invited to OM No L-110109(3)/1/2016-Trade (E-2625) dated February 22, 2024 enclosing the Annexure regarding Product designation for commercial import of premium frozen duck meat into India from the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying on the above-mentioned subject (copy enclosed).
Vide the above communication, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has designated the Regional Officer/Quarantine Officer, Animal Quarantine & Certification Services located at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru to certify that the imported goods are meat and edible offal, of ducks, frozen (other than backs of ducks, frozen) meeting the parameter as Annex to OM dt. February 22, 2024.
It is requested that necessary action may be taken to sensitize officers under your jurisdiction.
