The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released an updated User Manual for Indian exporters and importers to streamline operations under its Export Data Processing and Monitoring System (EDPMS). This move is aimed at enhancing compliance, improving data accuracy, and providing easier access to vital trade transaction data.
Key Highlights:
- Registration Simplified: Exporters and importers can now register directly on the EDPMS portal. Each Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) is allotted one user ID, which must match the mobile number registered with their bank.
- Two-Factor Login Process: Once registered, users receive credentials via SMS and must authenticate via OTP for secure access.
- Search Capabilities Expanded: Users can now easily search for and review:
- Shipping Bill details
- Inward and outward remittance data
- Bill of Entry (BoE) information
- Records with fatal/non-fatal data errors
- Weekly Report Downloads: A new feature allows users to download pre-generated reports on outstanding bills and remittances. These are updated on a weekly basis.
- Error Handling Protocols:
- Fatal errors must be corrected and resubmitted by the exporter/importer.
- Non-fatal errors are to be resolved in coordination with the Authorized Dealer (AD) bank and EDPMS support.
- Account Support: Users can reset passwords using a “Forgot Password” link, and account unlocks require direct contact with EDPMS support.
- Support Channels: For login or registration issues, RBI has designated two support emails:
- edpmssupportngp@rbi.org.in
- idpmssupport@rbi.org.in
The manual reflects the RBI’s push toward digitized, user-friendly regulatory compliance for India’s global trade community. It not only improves the functionality of the EDPMS platform but also ensures better data integrity and system responsiveness.
