As per the recent tweet of CNBC-TV18, the Finance Ministry has told the Rajya Sabha that so far, the GST Council has not made any recommendation for the inclusion of petrol and diesel under GST.
- At present there is no recommendation of the GST Council for review of compensation cess on tobacco products
- Excise duty rates on fuel have been calibrated to generate resources for infra & other developmental items of expenditure keeping in view the prevailing fiscal situation
- So far, the GST Council has not made any recommendation for inclusion of petrol and diesel under GST
