CBDT directs ASK Centers to remain open on July 31, 2022 during normal office hours to facilitate filing of tax returns by the taxpayers

The CBDT vide Order F.No. 225/125/2022-ITA.II dated July 30, 2022 directed the Aaykar Seva Kendra (“ASK”) Centers throughout India to remain open on July 31, 2022 during normal office hours to facilitate the filing of tax returns by the taxpayers.

The prescribed due date as per the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 139 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (‘Act’) for filing of returns of income for assessment year 2022-23 in respect of non-auditable cases is July 31, 2022. In view of closed holiday on July 31, 2022, being Sunday, it is hereby directed that ASK Centers throughout India shall remain open on July 31, 2022 during normal office hours. Further, special arrangements may also be made by way of opening additional receipt counters, wherever required, on July 31, 2022, to facilitate filing of tax returns by the taxpayers.

This order is issued for administrative convenience by the CBDT in exercise of powers conferred under section 119 (1) of the Income Tax Act, 1961. It may be given wide publicity.
