As per the recent tweet of CNBC-TV18, the sources say Group of Ministers (GoM) is divided on levying capacity based GST on pan masala & gutka sector.
- Group of Ministers (GoM) likely to seek more time to iron out issues
- Delhi, MP, Uttrakhand, Kerala against levy of capacity-based GST, UP is in favour
- States feel GST is a destination based tax and not a capacity based tax & that a capacity based GST will allow more corruption at state officers’ level
- GoM is in favour of levying capacity based tax on brick kiln. It is also in favour of allowing reverse charge for mentha oil under GST
