As per recent tweet by ET now, states that, the Finance Ministry takes decision on GST rates on online gaming, casino & horse racing to come into effect from October 01, 2023.
Here are the other points to note:
- Decision on GST rates on online gaming, casino & horse racing to come into effect from Oct 1, 2023
- The proposed amendments do not affect the tax on casual online gaming
- Proposed amendments will not affect online gaming where no real money/betting/wager is involved
- All states will have to pass amendments in the SGST Act from their assemblies
