Indian Customs leads long term structural reforms to ensure Ease of Doing Business

As per the recent tweet of CBIC, the Indian Customs leads long term structural reforms to ensure Ease of Doing Business.

EASE OF DOING BUSINESS:-

1. DIRECT PORT DELIVERY: Direct Port Delivery of containers for facilitated cargo and special category of importers (including AEOs). This obviates the need to park containers at CFS etc. Majority of import at Nhava Sheva port is now cleared under DPD.

2. AUTHORIZED ECONOMIC OPERATOR SCHEME: Streamlining of AEO Scheme by web-based online applications, reduction in a number of annexures of the form from 7 to 2 (Tier I AEO). Reforms in the AEO scheme have led to five times rise in the number of AEOs in past two years.

3. DIRECT PORT ENTRY: Direct Port Entry into port terminals prior to granting of LEO has been extended to all factory stuffed export containers, in addition to special category cargo; facilitating exports by cutting costs and time.
