
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on July 29 appointed two new members to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the ministry of personnel, public grievances, and pensions said in a statement.
The ministry said the committee approved the appointment of IRS officers Prabodh Seth and Ramesh Narain Parbat, according to a statement. Seth will take over as the principal chief commissioner of Income Tax (international taxation), Delhi, from Sanjai Kumar Verma, while Parbat will become the DGIT of investigations.
Agrawal, who is the current chairman of CBDT, and Verma were appointed to the Board in June 2023. A 1988-batch IRS officer, Agrawal took over as the chairman of CBDT in June this year and will remain in the post till June 2025. The current chief had replaced Nitin Gupta, a 1986-batch Indian Revenue Service officer.
