Centre should bring petrol, diesel under GST: Rathore

Commercial tax and excise minister Brajendra Singh Rathore on Saturday expressed need to bring petrol and diesel under the purview of GST to control their rates. Terming rates of petrol and diesel are highest at Madhya Pradesh in the country as ‘rumour’, Rathore said, “It’s not true that petrol and diesel prices in Madhya Pradesh are costlier in the country. There are some states, which have more rates than us. The centre should fulfil its promise and bring the inflammable under GST.”

The excise minister was talking to media persons on sidelines of foundation laying ceremony of food and drug test laboratory in Talawali Chanda area. The function was also attended by Vidhan Sabha Speaker NP Prajapati and health minister Tulsiram Silawat. On the occasion, Rathore also announced a plan to decrease property guidelines on old/ancestral property to 50% in the near future. He said, “Government has decreased property guidelines by 20% on old/ancestral property. It will further be decreased to 50% soon to provide much relief to people.” Commenting on Lokayukta raid on assistant excise commissioner Alok Khare, Rathore said,

“Stern action will be taken against officials involved in corruption. Government is committed for transparent governance and will take every action required in this regard.” Vidhan Sabha Speaker, too, targeted Centre accusing senior BJP leaders of ‘selling imagination’ instead of doing something in reality for the welfare of people. “They (BJP) have made it a country of the imagination. ‘Achhe Din’ is an imagination. People should understand that the country will not run and grow on imagination,” he said.
