GST superintendent, 2 CAs arrested with Rs 12 lakh bribe

CBI arrested a superintendent of Central GST, Amit Dalal, along with two CAs and one more person in corruption case and recovered Rs 12 lakh bribe amount from them. The CBI also recovered Rs 30 lakh during search at their premises.

It is alleged that Dalal had demanded Rs 15 lakh bribe from a businessman (complainant) for not enhancing his GST evasion/tax lability and for not arresting him in the tax evasion case. Dalal had allegedly instructed a chartered accountant to collect the bribe from the businessman on his behalf. The businessman approached the CBI and filed a complaint against Dalal.

CBI arrested the CA, Gopal Bhatter, while accepting Rs 7 lakh bribe. Meantime they also caught another CA Ramesh Parmar was caught with Rs 5 lakh who had collected it from someone else on instruction of Dalal.

When Dalal learnt about the trap he fled from Mumbai, the CBI arrested him from Delhi. The CBI searched premises of the accused and recovered Rs 30 lakh cash.
