Himachal Pradesh is gearing up to charge more revenues under the Goods and Services Taxes in the state, as the officer was given increased target to levy more taxes. Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Excise and Taxation Sanjay Kundu presided over the review meeting with departmental officers at Himachal Bhawan, Chandigarh on Sunday evening. The matter regarding increasing revenue receipt was discussed in detail in the meeting. Mr Kundu directed to make more efforts to increase the GST revenue collection and percentage of filing returns up to 95 percent from the current rate, so that the revenue receipts of government could be increased.
He directed the officers to cancel the registration of those registered tax payers, who have not been filing their returns, since the last six months. He said the registration of those tax payers should also be cancelled, who have dual registration. In addition to this, he asked to cancel the registration of those contractors, who got themselves registered, when the GST was being implemented, but now have become inactive. He directed to raise the matter of those tax payers before the central GST Commissioner, who come under the ambit of centre, but are not filing the returns. The Principal Secretary directed to start a campaign for sensitising people about filing the GST return and asked the District In-charge to make publicity through media. He observed district wise GST revenue collection and directed to make more efforts for increasing the receipts.
Revenue District South Enforcement Parwanoo Zone has collected Rs 50.72 crore GST revenue up to November, 2019 with an increase of 633 percent, which was Rs 6.92 crore up to November, 2018. Revenue district BBN collected Rs 252.53 crore up to November, 2019, as compared to Rs 139.63 crore up to November, 2018, which was 80.85 per cent more than the last year. District Sirmour collected GST revenue of Rs 60.35 crore up to November, 2019, which was 52.13 per cent more than last year revenue collection of Rs 39.67 crore up to November, 2018. District Solan collected Rs 178.49 GST revenue last year, while this year till this month, Rs 203.72 crore were collected, with 14.18 percent increase. District Bilaspur collected Rs 50.74 crore up to November, 2018, which has increased to Rs 54.73 crore up to November this year. Mr Kundu directed to convene a meeting for compliance of increasing the revenue collection in Shimla next month. The issues of Excise Policy, enhancing Excise revenue and taking efficient steps to control the illicit sale of liquor, would be discussed in the meeting.
