Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHRA) on Saturday welcomed the GST council’s decision to slash GST rates on hotel room tariffs and outdoor catering. KHRA said in a statement that the decision of reducing the hotel room tariffs will provide a major boost to the tourism industry.
However, KHRA expressed disappointment for not considering the association’s recommendation for reducing composition rates of hotels from 5% to 1% and for not taking up the proposal or raising minimum turnover for GST registration from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 40 lakh.
