The federation of aluminium vessel manufacturers has appealed to the Union Government to reduce the GST on these vessels. Deputy Speaker Pollachi V. Jayaraman, who participated in the annual meeting of the federation here on Sunday, told presspersons that aluminium vessels are used widely in houses, hotels and for cooking. These are manufactured in the State mainly in Coimbatore, Chennai, Salem, and Madurai.
In recent years this industry has seen a slowdown due to levy of GST, shortage of workers, and hike in raw material prices. The federation members had said that they should appeal to the Union Government to reduce the GST on alumninium vessels. He said this demand will be recommended to the Union Government. About 150 people from different parts of the country took part in the meeting that also discussed the latest technologies and measures needed to give a boost to the industry.
