Two officers in Goods & Services Tax (GST) of Sangli division, including state tax officer (II) and assistant tax officer, were on Wednesday arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a complainant (furniture factory owner).
The alleged accused had demanded Rs one lakh as bribe for not highlighting any flaws in payment of value-added tax of the past three years by the complainant in March 2019. Then, the matter was settled at Rs 60,000, an ACB release said here.
