While the Centre’s move to extend timelines for project completions and registrations by six months has come as a relief, real estate players from Hyderabad said that relaxations on GST, even by one or two percent, would have made a real difference. “Considering the price of all raw material is on the rise, we were really hoping that we would be given some relief on GST,” said D S Prasad, director, Aparna Constructions.
On the other hand, chairman of Anarock Property Consultants, Anuj Puri, feels the extension is a boon for the industry. “This will de-stress developers significantly since construction activity had been halted all across the country. Homebuyers’ wait will get extended by this move, but this was, in any case, inevitable,” he said.
